DIY Foreign Aid

Though free of any attempt at focus, Nicholas Kristof highlights a handful of young women taking on international development challenges for this Sunday’s NYT Magazine cover piece:

It’s all about what might be called Do-It-Yourself Foreign Aid, because it starts with the proposition that it’s not only presidents and United Nations officials who chip away at global challenges. Passionate individuals with great ideas can do the same, especially in the age of the Internet and social media.

Others who could have made Kristof’s list? The Akilah Institute in Rwanda; Embrace in India; and Global Cycle Solutions in East Africa.
